The winger came through the ranks of Sporting Lisbon, but he had not broken into their first team.
While Moreira had played over 50 matches for Sporting’s B team in the Portuguese lower leagues, his experience of top-flight football was very limited.
Prior to his €2m switch to Lyon last summer, he had made only six first-team appearances off the bench across three seasons in Liga Portugal.
