GK – Senne Lammens – the Belgian has arguably been the club’s best summer signing. He provides an assured presence at the back.
RB – Diogo Dalot – Carrick is expected to favour the Portuguese international ahead of Noussair Mazraoui.
CB – Leny Yoro – the 20-year-old still has a way to go to reach the levels many expected he could reach when he first arrived at the club.
CB – Lisandro Martinez – Harry Maguire is suspended after his sending off against Bournemouth, so the fit-again Argentinian is likely to return to the first eleven.
LB – Luke Shaw – the fullback would have benefited from the lengthy break between games.
