Goalkeeper and Defence
GK – Senne Lammens – the Belgian is now firmly established as the club’s No. 1 after an impressive debut season.
RB – Diogo Dalot – the Portuguese international is set to get the nod ahead of Noussair Mazraoui.
CB – Harry Maguire – Carrick appears to be a big fan of the 33-year-old, and he will start the season as first choice, at least until Matthijs de Ligt is fit and available.
CB – Lisandro Martinez – the defender hasn’t had much of a pre-season, following his exploits at the World Cup, but he could be favoured ahead of Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.
LB – Luke Shaw – the 31-year-old does not have any competition for his place, and Carrick will be hoping that another left-back is brought in before the transfer window closes.
