Former Man Utd midfielder Lee Sharpe has praised Bryan Mbeumo following his start to life at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils paid £71m to secure the Cameroon international’s services in the summer and Sharpe told Adventure Gamers that the forward has lived up to expectations:

“Bryan Mbeumo has been absolutely fantastic this season. It’s not just his ability to create chances and score goals, but his awareness of what’s going on in the game is what has particularly impressed me.”

“He’s always involved the game in some way – he never switches off, and you can tell that he was previous Premier League experience. His work rate is phenomenal as well – he’s always looking to run into gaps and create space for others.”

“For me, he’s right up there with the best wingers in the Premier League at the moment. He’s scoring goals and creating chances, and his stats stack up as some of the best in the division currently.”

The 26-year-old has scored 5 goals and provided 1 assist in his 11 appearances for the Red Devils so far, which is not a bad return whatsoever.

As Sharpe points out, Mbeumo has not needed any time to adapt to his new club, and while some of that can be attributed to his experience of playing in English football, it is also his mentality.

Many players have failed due to the pressure of playing for the club but the winger doesn’t seem to be concerned about outside noise. His transfer fee could have been a millstone around his neck, yet he seems to thrive on the responsibility.

Fans will hope other signings follow in Mbeumo’s footsteps

None of the club’s new recruits have disappointed per se, but it is fair to say that the rest haven’t been unqualified successes.

Benjamin Sesko has received criticism from pundits, and while Matheus Cunha got a lot of praise for his performances against Liverpool and Brighton, he has not been as prolific as he was at Wolves.

Senne Lammens is also very much a project. The young Belgian seems a confident individual, but he won’t get everything right, and patience will be needed. Mbeumo, in contrast, has hit the ground running.
