Man Utd Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Matheus Cunha & 2 Others

Man Utd boss Michael Carrick says he expects Matheus Cunha to return for the clash against Liverpool this weekend.

The Brazilian international was a notable absentee from the squad for the 2-1 win over Brentford on Monday night, and asked about the player’s fitness, Carrick said:

“He had a bit of a sore hip flexor after the game against Chelsea. He was looking quite promising during the week.”

“We thought he’d be okay, but he didn’t quite progress quick enough. It’s nothing too serious, but unfortunately, he misses out tonight.”

Expected Return Date – Sunday 3rd May vs Liverpool (h)

Patrick Dorgu

The wingback made a surprise return to the matchday squad for the victory against Brentford, but he was an unused substitute.

Dorgu has only just returned to full training, having missed the best part of three months with a serious hamstring injury he sustained against Arsenal in late January.

Matthijs de Ligt

The Dutchman has been pictured on the training pitch at Carrington for the first time this calendar year.

De Ligt has had more than one setback after picking up a back injury following the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at the end of November.

It is a chronic issue, which needed to be managed carefully, and it is still not known when he will make his comeback.

There were concerns that de Ligt could be out for the rest of the season, but the signs are now much more positive after being seen back on the grass. It’s unlikely that he will feature against Liverpool on Sunday but there is hope that he could play some part in the final few fixtures this campaign.

Expected Return Date – Unknown
