Matthijs de Ligt
The Netherlands international has been training with the first team squad for the last week.
Carrick has made it clear that de Ligt is not match fit, having last played a competitive game in November last year.
The centre-back underwent surgery in the summer to fix a troublesome back problem.
It seems the operation was a success, and we should see de Ligt back on the bench over the coming weeks.
Expected Return Date – September
Tom Heaton
The goalkeeper has not been seen in action since he started the friendly against Atletico Madrid at the beginning of this month.
It is believed that Heaton subsequently picked up a hamstring problem and no timeframe has been provided for his comeback.
Expected Return Date – Unknown
Manuel Ugarte
The 25-year-old underwent surgery after sustaining a serious knee injury whilst playing for Uruguay at the World Cup.
Ugarte is expected to be out for several months, with no estimate provided on when he could return to action.
Expected Return Date – Unknown
