Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes is set to return to action when Portugal face Denmark on Thursday night.
The midfielder was forced to miss the 2-1 win over Norway at the weekend due to an injury he had been carrying for several weeks.
However, Portuguese tabloid Record claim that Fernandes “completed” a recovery training session in “full” on Monday.
He is now in line to make his return for his country’s next Nations League fixture.
If Fernandes comes through Portugal’s next two matches unscathed, he should be ready to play for United when they take on Tottenham at Old Trafford next month.
What has been said about Fernandes’s injury?
Speaking after the 1-0 win over Wales last week, Portugal boss Jorge Jesus revealed that the 32-year-old had been managing a problem:
“He came here with an injury from United and, as he said, has been playing through that pain for about three games now.”
It seems clear that Fernandes simply needed a bit of time off to recover from the knock.

The Latest Man Utd injury news
Manager Michael Carrick has nine other players on the treatment table. Like Fernandes, it is expected that Kobbie Mainoo (knock) will be available immediately after the international break. However, there is less certainty over Marcus Rashford (groin), Karl Darlow (knock), Tom Heaton (hamstring) and Amad (ankle).
Benjamin Sesko is also unlikely to feature anytime soon. The striker has suffered a recurrence of a shin injury that has caused him plenty of problems since the back end of last season.
Matthijs de Ligt, meanwhile, is working his way back to full fitness after 10 months out with a back injury, while Manuel Ugarte (knee) is a long-term absentee.
