Man United vs Leicester City – Match Report As Utd Stay Top With 3 Wins On The Bounce

For the United faithful it`s good to see Manchester United finally delivering consistent and eye pleasing performances. The massive investments made this summer and last summer are starting to pay off as the Red-Devils look more and more secure with their time spent on the pitch. Mourinho is looking more and more like the manager who helped Inter to that unexpected Champions League as well.

The whole group seems to be clicking at Old Trafford. They are scoring, defending and providing fans an overall feeling of confidence which let’s be honest, was not always there over the past couple of years. If not for the 2-1 loss against Real Madrid, August would have finished with the perfect end to a very promising summer. United now top the Premier League standings with a perfect 3-0-0 record.

It was not easy against Leicester though. Kasper Schmeichel did wonders and almost closed the goal for good. Fortunately, a very determined attacking line managed to break through the 30 year old Dane.

Despite saving a penalty from Lukaku, Schmeichel could not do anything against Rashford’s strike. It was a well deserved goal for the youngster who will definitely be among the ones to watch this season. It was the substitutes’ evening as Fellaini came off the bench to finish a Leicester side who just could not keep up.

Mourinho pointed out their great attitude as reported by BT Sport:  “After the goal I have to say we were very good. If i have to choose a word to describe my team, I would have to say “solid”. The players are good and motivated. They are on the bench waiting for a chance.”

United now get a welcomed timeout until their next game which sees them taking on Stoke City. Then there’s the much-anticipated Champions League game against Basel which needs to go down well given the fact that the Manchester side missed the most important competition of all last year. The group stage should not be a difficult task to tackle but still, they will need a good start. Hopefully, this new and improved squad will stay safe and deliver at least one major trophy in 2017-18.
