Manchester United are interested in signing Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh, according to reports.
The Red Devils are looking to reinforce their options up front and Stretty News claims they are “keeping tabs” on the 20-year-old who “tormented” them during a 3-1 Seagulls victory at Old Trafford back in January.
Minteh scored the opener and provided an assist for Kaoru Mitoma in that match, and he is a player that many other Premier League teams are keeping an eye on.
Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to be targeting the Gambian international, who was signed for £30m from Newcastle last summer.
Man United are hoping to overhaul their front three
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and (potentially) Rasmus Hojlund could all be sold over the coming weeks if the club receive satisfactory bids.
Most of these players do not feature in the plans of head coach Ruben Amorim who is keen on recruiting two No.10s to play either side of a centre-forward.
One of those slots is set to be filled by Matheus Cunha, who is expected to complete his £62.5m move from Wolves very soon. You can find out more about the Brazilian international here.
Minteh is not the only target under consideration
The Brighton forward is just one of many forwards that the Red Devils have looked at. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is also very much on the club’s radar. The 25-year-old is expected to cost in excess of £50m and there will be competition from Newcastle for his signature.
Lyon’s Rayan Cherki has been mentioned as a possible target too but all the signs point towards him joining rivals Manchester City at the moment.
If United do decide to recruit Minteh, he won’t be available on the cheap. Brighton are notoriously tough negotiators, so it won’t be an easy deal to finalise.
