Manchester United are interested in signing Racing Genk striker Tolu Arokodare, according to reports.
The Nigerian international had a strong season in Belgian football, having scored 23 goals in all competitions.
United In Focus claim that club scouts have recommended Arokodare to Director of Football Jason Wilcox and Director of Recruitment Christopher Vivell.
The 24-year-old is expected to be available for around £20m this summer and he is the type of target man that head coach Ruben Amorim prefers to lead the line.
Any move for Arokodare may depend on Hojlund
The Red Devils are believed to be willing to let Rasmus Hojlund leave Old Trafford this summer. The Danish international struggled to find the back of the net last season, scoring just 4 times in the Premier League.
He does have interest from teams in Italy, with Inter Milan in particular said to be keen on securing his services. However, no club has so far matched the forward’s asking price which is reportedly around €45m (£38m).
It’s likely that an offer for Arokodare would only be made as and when Hojlund is sold.
Man United are looking at several strikers
Amorim’s preferred option is thought to be Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres but the Swede’s asking price is currently too steep. A tentative approach has been made for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike but the 22-year-old is also too expensive.
In addition to Arokadare, the Red Devils have been linked with his fellow countryman Victor Osimhen, as well as Fiorentina’s Moise Kean.
A formal bid for a No.9 is not expected to be tabled before a deal for Bryan Mbeumo is finalised. The winger has agreed personal terms, but there is still some work to do on agreeing a fee with his club Brentford.
