Man United should not contemplate selling Rasmus Hojlund, according to Benni McCarthy.
The South African worked for the Red Devils as a coach during Erik ten Hag’s first two years in charge, so he knows more about Hojlund than most people. Speaking to betonlinepromocodes.com, McCarthy said that the 22-year-old has the potential to explode if the club remain patient:
“I’ve worked with Rasmus personally, and he’s great. He’s got all the attributes to become a top player. With time and the right guidance – including the right manager – he can elevate his game, especially if a team plays for him. That’s a player with a lot going for him who could make players around him better.”
“You learn things about players that you sign, and he’ll be able to take you far. He’s a fantastic lad, and you don’t let those kinds of players go. For me, you should stick with Hojlund.”
“I know people are disappointed with him because of his price tag, but he’s young. Some players are slow burners, but once things click, he’s got everything. He’s got the attitude, mentality, physique – everything. They need to give him a chance and he will come good.”
Man United don’t have time to wait for Hojlund to come good
After scoring just 4 Premier League goals last season, there are plenty of fans and pundits who believe the Red Devils should cut their losses on the player.
Following a disastrous 2024/25 campaign, head coach Ruben Amorim will be under pressure to get results right away when the new season kicks off, so there is a good chance that Hojlund will be offloaded to bring in someone who can deliver immediately.
Replacements for Hojlund are being lined up
It is widely known that Amorim’s preferred target would be his former player Viktor Gyokeres, but he is currently favouring a switch to Arsenal.
Alternatives such as Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike are also under consideration, but a lot depends on how much can be raised from the sales of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.
