Man United Plot Transfer Raid Worth £102.5M For TWO Strikers But There’s One Big Issue

Manchester United are planning to sign Ipswich striker Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha “in the same transfer window”, according to reports.

GiveMeSport claim that the Red Devils are keen on securing the services of the two forwards, who both have release clauses in their contracts.

Delap will be available for £40m if Ipswich are relegated and, with the Tractor Boys 12 points off safety, that looks like a distinct possibility.

Cunha, meanwhile, has a £62.5m buyout fee in the contract that he signed with Wolves at the beginning of February.

United do face one big stumbling block

While the Manchester club have ambitions of signing Delap and Cunha, the finances are currently not there to go after the pair.

It is believed that the funds would need to be raised by qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League or by selling some unwanted players.

Why does Amorim want both Delap and Cunha?

Recent reports suggest that Delap has “moved ahead” of other options as United look to snap up a new No.9. Viktor Gyokeres was among the top targets but the feeling is that he is more likely to join Arsenal. Victor Osimhen was also considered but his wage demands are deemed excessive.

Delap does have interest from other teams, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and West Ham but his price tag means he is attainable.

Cunha, meanwhile, is capable of playing across all three positions up front, making him a strong candidate for head coach Ruben Amorim. Arsenal are also said to be keen on the Brazilian but if they do sign Gyokeres then the door would be opened for the Red Devils to swoop in. As we have already mentioned, though, a lot depends on whether the Red Devils can find the money required.
