Manchester United have told Wolves that they will trigger the £62.5m release clause in Matheus Cunha’s contract.
The Red Devils were hoping to pay the fee in instalments over four or five years but Wolves have insisted that they meet the terms of the clause which requires payment in full over two seasons.
Cunha has already agreed personal terms and he is now expected to complete his move to Old Trafford over the coming days.
