Manchester United are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has often been compared to former Chelsea player N’Golo Kante due to his style of play, but TEAMtalk claim he could be available for just £20m this summer.
Sevilla need to raise funds due to financial difficulties and Agoume’s availability has attracted the attention of the Red Devils, Arsenal and Tottenham.
AC Milan and several Bundesliga teams are also hoping to snap up the Frenchman but the player’s preference is to move to England, handing the advantage to the Premier League sides.
Amorim wants to add legs in midfield
One of the areas that head coach Ruben Amorim is hoping to reinforce this summer is in the centre of the pitch.
The Portuguese’s 3-4-2-1 system means that the two-man double pivot has a large space to cover and, with Casemiro not getting any younger, a player like Agoume would be perfectly suited for the job. The fact that he is available for a relatively low price also makes him a perfect target.
Man United are trailing Arsenal
While TEAMtalk have confirmed that the Red Devils have “entered the race” for Agoume, it is believed that the Gunners are the ones who have made the most headway.
The London club are said to have already held talks with the midfielder‘s representatives, giving them “the edge” in negotiations.
They have identified Agoume as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey who could leave the Emirates when his contract expires at the end of this month. It means United have some catching up to do if they want to beat their rivals to the Sevilla star’s signature.
