Reliable Journalist Claims Man United And PL Rival Have “Made Enquiries” About £34M Rated Centre Back

Europa League finalists Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in signing Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka, according to RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins.

The journalist, who is known for his reliability when it comes to transfer stories, has confirmed that the two Premier League teams are keen on signing the defender:

“After a great season at AS Roma, with whom he is under contract until 2028, Ivorian international defender Evan Ndicka (25) has caught the eye of Premier League teams”

“Tottenham and Manchester United have made enquiries about the Parisian native, who trained at Auxerre. Ndicka, valued at €40 million (£34m), will take the time to consider the offers and projects presented.”

Why are Man United interested in the player?

Ndicka is left-footed and he would be a decent fit for Ruben Amorim’s back three. He could provide competition for the likes of Lisandro Martinez in the left-sided centre-half role.

With the Argentinian international not expected to be available for the start of next season due to the ACL injury he sustained back in February, signing Ndicka would make sense.

Can the club afford Ndicka?

The 25-year-old’s £34m asking price may be pretty steep, considering that United are having to cut their cloth accordingly in the transfer market this summer.

An approach for Ndicka may have to wait until some players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are offloaded.

Garnacho has interest from Chelsea and Arsenal, while Sancho has now been targeted by his former team Borussia Dortmund once again.

Of course, with Ndicka, the longer United wait to make their move, the greater the chance that another team (such as Spurs) will swoop in and secure his signature instead.

In other news, Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with a move for a Juventus player, who could be available for just £20m
