Journalist Confirms Medical Is “Expected To Take Place Next Week’ As Man United Close In On Next Signing

Bryan Mbeumo’s medical is “expected to take place next week” ahead of his move to Manchester United, according to talkSPORT journalists Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs.

The Red Devils have had a second bid rejected, although there is a belief that a third offer will be tabled in due course.

A fee in excess of £60m is expected to be paid, and while there are still doubts over the exact amount that United will pay, there is a feeling that the two sides are not too far apart from finding an agreement.

Their differences should not take long to resolve and there is confidence that the transfer can be finalised pretty soon.

Mbeumo favours a move to Old Trafford

There were reports earlier this month that Tottenham could try and hijack the transfer. Spurs’s appointment of the player’s former manager Thomas Frank raised concerns that he may end up joining the North London club instead.

However, Mbeumo has always expressed a preference for joining Ruben Amorim’s side and talk of a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has gone quiet in recent days.

It will be Man United’s second signing of the summer

Having secured the signature of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha for £62.5m earlier this month, Mbeumo would only be the second addition through the doors of Carrington since the transfer window opened.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox would have preferred to do a lot more business by this stage. Amorim was reportedly keen to have all of his new signings in place by the start of pre-season on July 7th, but that looks very unrealistic now.

The main problem is getting unwanted players off the club’s books. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are all free to leave, but so far, the Red Devils have not received satisfactory offers for them.
