Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is “very fond of” Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, according to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein.
The trusted journalist was talking about the futures of several Cherries players when he mentioned the Red Devils’ interest in the forward:
“There’s Antoine Semenyo as well, what a season he’s had, a player that Manchester United, their manager Ruben Amorim, is very fond of.”
Ornstein then went out to claim that Bournemouth would want a club-record fee for the 25-year-old, which currently stands at £65m – the amount they received from Tottenham for Dominic Solanke last year.
Semenyo is on the radar of several Premier League clubs
The Ghanaian international has caught the eye this season, having scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists in all competitions.
Semenyo’s performances have not only attracted the attention of Amorim and United. Both Chelsea and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in the forward in recent months.
His ability to play on either flank, due to the fact that he is comfortable playing off both feet, means he is a valuable asset.
Man United are hoping to strengthen their frontline
It could be a very busy summer in the transfer market for the Reds. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and even Alejandro Garnacho could be sold, while there are doubts over the future of Rasmus Hojlund too.
Amorim is keen to overhaul his front three, and Semenyo’s name has seemingly been suggested as a potential target.
Of course, with the club reportedly hoping to sign Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha as well, it’s difficult to see where the funds will come from to finance a deal for Semenyo, unless a sizeable sum of money can be raised through player sales.
