La Liga Giants Set Bargain £21m Price Tag For Man United Target Who Could Replace Andre Onana

Real Madrid have set a £21m price tag on goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who Man United are reportedly keen on to replace Andre Onana.

The Red Devils have already added their first summer signing as they secured Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha for a fee of £62.5m, and are now working to bring in Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.

However, one of the positions that United are looking to improve is at the back. Goalkeeper Andre Onana has been poor this season, making several mistakes in key moments, leading reports to suggest that United are keen to replace him this summer.

They had previously been linked to the likes of Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale, Porto’s Diogo Costa and Lucas Chevalier from French side Lille. However, Real Madrid keeper Andriy Lunin is now reportedly a target replacement.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Lunin’s agent is looking for another club for the goalkeeper this summer. The report says that Madrid President Florentino Perez has told the Ukrainian keeper’s agent that he would be willing to sell the 26-year-old for a fee of between £21m and £25.3m.

Lunin was Thibault Courtois’ backup at Madrid this past season, he made 14 appearances for the La Liga giants, conceding 19 goals, and keeping six clean sheets. He would be a worthy replacement for Onana, if the rumours suggesting United want to move on from the Cameroonian keeper are true.

How much could Man United get for Onana?

Since the end of the season, Onana had been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League due to his hefty wage bill. Man United can’t afford to sell him for cheap based on the £47.2m that they spent on him two years ago.

Onana’s estimated market value at the moment is around £26m, any sale for less than that would cause United some problems with regards to Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Instead, United could opt to send him out on loan with an option to buy, with the hope that, like Marcus Rashford and Antony, that his form, and so his value would improve during his time away from Old Trafford. But this could be a more risky move than simply cashing in on him now.
