We Asked AI Which Goalkeeper Man United Should Replace Andre Onana With – This Is Who It Said…

Man United look set to replace Andre Onana this summer after a series of poor performances in goal.

Reports have suggested that Man United are going to replace Onana this summer, especially considering that Ruben Amorim decided to drop him for back-up keeper Altay Bayindir last weekend against Newcastle United.

The Red Devils have been linked to several top keepers, including Lille FC’s Lucas Chevalier, Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton, and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen, but it has not yet been revealed if United have a preferred choice to sign this summer.

So to help work out who could be in between the sticks at Old Trafford next season, we asked Chat GPT to tell us which stopper it thinks that Ruben Amorim should target in the summer transfer window…

AI recommended: Mike Maignan, AC Milan

When we asked AI to suggest a keeper that Man United sign, it recommended AC Milan star Mike Maignan, who hasn’t yet been linked to Manchester United according to the reports around Onana.

AI said: “Good distribution, calm under pressure — something Onana promised but didn’t consistently deliver. He commands his area like a true #1, which United’s backline desperately needs. If United want a sure thing and a big personality to organize their defense, he’s the guy.

However, Maignan might want to play in the Champions League next season, and so could decide to reject a move to Old Trafford if Man United fail to win the Europa League.

AI then suggested Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen as an alternative option. It said: “if they’re planning more of a rebuild and can’t spend crazy money, then Bart Verbruggen is a brilliant balance of potential and proven quality. Composed, technically gifted, and already has a great shot-stopping record.”

United have been linked to Verbruggen, who is expected to have a transfer price of at least £32m, with some suggesting that Brighton could ask for up to £60m for the Dutchman.
