‘Very Unserious Club’ ‘We Are Cooked’ Fans Perplexed As Man United Make Big Decision On £47M Player

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is “expected to stay” at Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.

The Athletic claim that the 29-year-old’s representatives “held a meeting” with club officials last week, where they were given assurances about his future.

While the Red Devils may still move for another reserve keeper, it appears as if Onana (who cost £47m to sign) is safe, and that is not the news most fans on X wanted to hear:

Onana replacements have been considered

Despite the club giving certain assurances to the player, it is believed that Director of Football Jason Wilcox has seriously looked at bringing in a new No.1.

The likes of Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez, Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Lille’s Lucas Chevalier and, most recently, Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi have all been linked with moves to Manchester by different sources.

Man United have limited resources

Despite the clamour to replace Onana among the fanbase, though, it was evident even heading into the summer that finding a new keeper was not top of the club’s list of priorities.

Reinforcing the frontline has taken precedence so any move to buy another keeper may have to wait until much later in the summer when the club have potentially raised more funds through player sales.
