Man United should consider selling this asset and ending speculation

Manchester United have enjoyed a successful transfer window so far, securing major additions in the form of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, but Jose Mourinho’s side continue to be linked with numerous pieces of business- including potential outgoing deals.

The Red Devils have been very successful in recent years by only offloading players on their own terms, rather than losing star-names to super clubs abroad, but one continuous story has hogged the back pages of the media throughout recent years.

David De Gea has been regularly linked with a move to Real Madrid ever since a Deadline Day move to the Santiago Bernabeu broke down in 2015, with reports continuing to arise this season and suggestions that Mourinho could approve a sale.

Whilst there seems to have been a further twist in the tale in recent weeks, with Mourinho stating the Spaniard is not going anywhere, fresh reports from Spanish outlet Diario Gol suggest the two sides are secretly negotiating behind the scenes.

It’s indicated that neither side is looking to complete a deal before the European Super Cup clash on August 8th, as they do not want the match to be overshadowed by talk surrounding De Gea, but Zinedine Zidane’s side are still intent on changing their options between the sticks and are reportedly ready to offload Keylor Navas.

De Gea will only move to the Spanish capital if he is assured the number one spot in the side, which means an exit for Navas has to arise, but despite the loss it would provide Manchester United it would certainly be wise for the Red Devils to consider a sale.

The Spanish goalkeeper has made it clear his future lies with the Champions League winners and he doesn’t fit into Jose Mourinho’s plan of building a side for the long-term, which he’s done well in so far by bringing the likes of Lindelof, Lukaku, Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba to Old Trafford.

A goalkeeper is obviously a huge part of his project though and the fact that Manchester United cannot rely on David De Gea moving forward in the long-term means they should consider reaching an agreement sooner rather than later.
