Man United Player Ratings Vs Grimsby: Three Players Get 2/10 While Three Others Get 3

Man United sank to a new low after being beaten on penalties by fourth-tier Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.

Ruben Amorim‘s side simply were not up for the fight against a hungry opponent who were keen to pull off a famous upset.

Read below as we provide our Man United player ratings for their embarrassing Carabao Cup second round exit at Blundell Park.

Goalkeeper and Defence

GK – Andre Onana – 2/10 – at fault for both of Grimsby’s goals. Made a save and scored in the penalty shootout, but it wasn’t enough to make up for an awful display.

CB – Tyler Fredricson – 2/10 – we shouldn’t be too harsh on the youngster but he is way out of his depth. He should be sent out on loan to gain more experience.

CB – Harry Maguire – 5/10 – he struggled defensively for most of the game, and on another night, his mistake could have led to Grimsby scoring a third, but his blushes were saved by the linesman. He did, though, score United’s equaliser.

CB – Ayden Heaven – 4/10 – the defender made some wayward passes, but he did block a shot to stop Grimsby from finding the back of the net for a third time.

Midfield

RWB – Diogo Dalot – 3/10 – where was the Portuguese international for Grimsby’s opener? Fredricson was left trying to mark two players.

CM – Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10 – had some nice individual moments, including a good through ball for Bryan Mbeumo, but he wasn’t able to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

CM – Manuel Ugarte – 2/10 – £50m? The Red Devils have been sold a lemon. He was hooked at the interval after an abysmal first half, where he showed no fight whatsoever.

LWB – Patrick Dorgu – 3/10 – his crossing was terrible and he looked a deer in the headlights whenever he got into the final third.
