A weak keeper and inexperienced backline
GK – Altay Bayindir – there are reports that United are hoping to bring in a young keeper such as Antwerp’s Senne Lammens or a cheap backup like Botafogo’s John Victor. Either way, Bayindir’s days at Old Trafford could be numbered.
CB – Tyler Fredricson – the departure of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans’ retirement means the youngster is likely to get a lot of chances to play, unless a new centre-half is signed.
CB – Harry Maguire – it could be a coin toss between the England international and Matthijs de Ligt as to who starts in the centre of defence.
CB – Ayden Heaven – the 18-year-old may actually start the campaign in the starting lineup with Lisandro Martinez still recovering from a serious knee injury.
