“He’s A Handful” – Wayne Rooney Singles Out Summer Signing For Praise After Man United’s Win Against Sunderland

Man United legend Wayne Rooney was very impressed by Benjamin Sesko’s performance against Sunderland at the weekend.

The Slovenian bagged his second goal in as many games during the 2-0 win and Rooney says the striker’s ability to hold up the ball will benefit his teammates:

“I think he’s a handful. I think he uses his body well. You know, he challenges for the ball and it makes it easier for Mbeumo and Cunha when he’s on or Mount to make runs in behind him.”

“So, I think that’s something clearly [that] they’ve worked on. But yeah, and obviously getting another goal, I think, will help him.”

Sesko has taken a while to get going

The 22-year-old failed to find the back of the net in his first six appearances for the Red Devils, but he seems to be benefiting from an extended run in the starting eleven.

Sesko was clearly not fully fit when he first arrived at Old Trafford and that was evident by his lack of sharpness in front of goal.

Things have definitely clicked for him over the past two matches against Brentford and Sunderland, though, and he will be keen to continue in that vein after the international break.

Man United do have quality up front

While there are still big question marks about this team, the investment in the frontline seems to be bearing fruit to some extent.

Sesko cost £73.7m, so it remains to be seen whether he will justify that transfer fee in the long term, but he showed on Saturday that he does have the attributes to cause problems for Premier League defences.

Both Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have already shown what they are capable of in English football, and if Amorim can get the best out of the pair, in addition to keeping Mason Mount fit, then this team will score plenty of goals.
