Man United look to keep their hopes of silverware alive this season as they face a Europa League quarter-final against Lyon.
The Red Devils are trying to land a spot in next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League, which is also their last hope of a trophy in Ruben Amorim’s first season at the club.
United drew 0-0 to rivals Man City in their last game, an uneventful Manchester derby which sparked a lot of criticism from former United star Gary Neville.
However, Amorim will be fully focused on his side’s efforts to try and land themselves a trophy this year, but they’ll have to get past Lyon first. The French side sit fifth in Ligue 1, winning six of their last seven games in all competition.
United will be without up to six players with Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Ayden Heaven and Amad Diallo all ruled out due to injury. Matthijs De Ligt and Kobbie Mainoo are both in doubt, with Mainoo hoping to return for the first time since the start of February.
Lyon narrowly backed to beat Man United in first leg
The game tonight marks the first leg of their Europa League tie, with the second leg coming next week at Old Trafford. The bookmakers have given the French side the advantage with them being at home.
According to Oddschecker, Lyon are backed to win at odds of 8/5, which gives them a 38.5% chance to win on Thursday.
Man United are backed at odds of 9/5 (35.7%), and a draw is backed at 5/2 (28.6%), suggesting that it could be a very close game. We predict a 2-2 draw, as United will have the home advantage in the second leg.
