Man United Injury News & Expected Return Dates: Updates On Mount, De Ligt & 3 More

Man United midfielder Mason Mount is dealing with a knock that he picked up against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

The Red Devils managed to win 1-0 against Newcastle thanks to a goal from Patrick Dorgu. Ruben Amorim will hope his side can continue with their momentum, as they face off against a struggling Wolves side.

If Man United manage to beat Wolves on Tuesday night, they could climb up to fourth in the Premier League table, as they would go level on points with Liverpool, who have seen a recent resurgence.

However, midfielder Mason Mount may be unavailable to feature, as he is dealing with a knock he picked up against Newcastle. Amorim said to the media after the game: “He felt something at half-time. He wanted to go, and that is also a good thing. He wanted to go in the second half, but cannot lose more players, if you are not 100 per cent.”

It seems as though he took him off as a precaution, so he should be available against Wolves, but could be rested. He is expected to have a bigger role in Bruno Fernandes’ absence.

Expected return date – Tuesday 30 December vs Wolves (H)

Matthijs De Ligt

Centre-back De Ligt is dealing with a lower back injury that he suffered before Christmas. He has been recovering, and looks to be ready for a return in one of the next two games for Man United.

If he doesn’t play against Wolves, Amorim should expect the Dutch international to come back for when United play against Leeds on January 4 instead.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire has been out with a hamstring injury since early December, and it seems to be more and more extended. However, based on recent reports, the Englishman should be back in the next two games, much like De Ligt.

He is currently being assessed ahead of the Wolves match on Tuesday, and will hope to feature against the Midlands-based side, if not he should be back against Leeds.

Kobbie Mainoo

Mainoo will be hoping to get more opportunities whilst Fernandes is out injured, as Amorim will need more options in the midfield.

He is currently dealing with a calf injury, but it isn’t anything major, and the 20-year-old is expected to return before Fernandes.

The Wolves game may come too soon for Mainoo, but he should be available to play against Leeds United for the first game of 2026.

Expected return date – Sunday 4 January vs Leeds United (A)

Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes is still recovering from his hamstring injury that he suffered against Aston Villa before Christmas. It was initially feared to be quite bad, but it seems he could return in just over a week, which is great news.

He is currently being assessed, and is expected to miss both the Wolves and the Leeds game. However, the Man United captain could return as early as United’s following game against Burnley.
