Updates On Matthijs De Ligt, Diogo Dalot And 4 Others: Man United Injury News And Expected Return Dates

Man United defender Matthijs de Ligt is a major doubt for the Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao.

The Netherlands international was substituted in the first half of the 4-3 defeat to Brentford at the weekend with a knee injury.

Speaking about de Ligt’s fitness after the game, head coach Ruben Amorim raised the prospect that the centre-back could be out for the long term:

“I don’t know [when he’ll be back] so I’m really concerned – not about Thursday. We took off Luke Shaw at half-time to protect and have players for Thursday, but I’m more concerned whether it is a small or big injury and thinking about next season.”

De Ligt had just returned from a month out with an ankle problem he sustained against Nottingham Forest.

Expected Return Date – Unknown

Diogo Dalot

The Portuguese international’s fitness is being assessed on a weekly basis to determine if he will be ready to return to action before the end of the season.

Dalot has a calf injury which has kept him sidelined for the last three matches against Bournemouth, Athletic Bilbao and Brentford.

The wingback has yet to return to training but there are indications that he could be back if Man United reach the Europa League final.

Expected Return Date – End of May
