How could the Man United defence look with Martinez back?
As many of the United fans have pointed out, Martinez’s return could have an impact on Luke Shaw, who has been filling in as one of the three centre-backs in a back three for Amorim.
However, what it could do, is allow Shaw to move to the more attacking wing-back role on the left, leaving Amad Diallo on the right, and Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu on the bench.
Martinez would likely line up alongside the likes of Leny Yoro and Matthijs De Ligt, who have both performed very well at centre-back so far this season.
Amorim says he isn’t going to rush Martinez back
Amid the news of Martinez’s impending return, Man United boss Ruben Amorim has said that he doesn’t plan to rush the Argentine back, as he doesn’t want to aggravate his injury.
He told BBC Sport: “He is going to take time. He has started training with us but we had to change some things in the exercise for him so he’s going to get better slowly. He gives us that edge in every training session,” added Amorim. “That is also really good for us.”
