Man United Injury News & Expected Return Dates: Updates On Mazraoui and 3 More

Man United defender Noussair Mazraoui is a doubt heading into their game against Bournemouth on Friday.

The Red Devils are making the trip down South to play against Bournemouth in the Premier League, and hope that they can solidify their spot in the Champions League places.

Michael Carrick’s side currently sit third in the Premier League table, and can climb to within four points of rivals Man City, who are in second at the moment. Manchester United come off an impressive 3-1 win against Aston Villa last weekend.

Heading into the Bournemouth game, Man United could be without four players due to injury concerns, the first of which is defender Noussair Mazraoui.

The Moroccan international has been dealing with an illness, and Carrick confirmed on Wednesday that he could miss the Bournemouth game because of it. He said: “[Mazraoui] is just ill. He just wasn’t feeling too good today.”

He is currently being assessed ahead of Friday night’s game, but Carrick wouldn’t have expected to start him either way.

Expected return date – Friday 20 March vs Bournemouth (A)

Lisandro Martinez

Centre-back Lisandro Martinez is dealing with an injury which could keep him out of the Bournemouth game on Friday. Carrick may potentially have to select Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire at centre-back, the latter just received an England call up from Thomas Tuchel.

However, there is a chance that Martinez could feature on Friday despite his ankle injury. Carrick said this week: “[Lisandro is] closer, a lot closer. He’s getting there, so after this one. I think he’ll be alright.”

Matthijs De Ligt

De Ligt has been out of action since December now, after suffering several injury set-backs to his lower-back issue, and he has been away for a lot longer than United would have initially thought.

As things stand, the Dutch international looks to be targeting a return after the March international break.

Carrick said: “It’s [a] similar [situation] really, and frustrating for Matta. He’s obviously trying to work to get back, but it’s just the back issue, really, that’s proving difficult. We’ll keep working as hard to get him back as quickly as we can.”

Expected return date – Monday 13 April vs Leeds United (H)

Patrick Dorgu

Dorgu should be able to return before the end of the season, despite suffering an unfortunate hamstring injury in January just three games into Carrick’s tenure at Old Trafford.

As things stand, he is looking to make a return in late April, so should be back for the last few games of the season for Carrick.

Expected return date – Monday 27 April vs Brentford (H)
