Amorim Gets Major Boost As Man United Trio Make Return To Training

Manchester United stars Andre Onana, Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez are all back in light training, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claim that Onana (in particular) is making quicker-than-expected progress as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

It was originally thought that the Cameroon international would be sidelined for six to eight weeks but he is already involved in non-contact training sessions

While Onana won’t feature against Everton this weekend, the Mail report that there is an “outside chance” that he could face Fiorentina on Saturday week.

If there are no setbacks, it looks like Onana will be in goal for the opening Premier League fixture against Arsenal later this month.

What is the latest on Zirkzee?

The Dutch forward has picked up a minor knock, which has meant that he has been unable to play in the three pre-season friendlies so far against Leeds, West Ham and Bournemouth.

Zirkzee has played down the seriousness of the injury and he says that he fully expects to be available for the match versus the Gunners at Old Trafford on August 17th. Considering his lack of minutes, though, it’s unlikely that he will be named in the starting eleven for that fixture.

United fans will have to wait a while to see Martinez back in action

While the Argentinian international has been pictured back out on the grass doing some running drills and ball work, there is still some way to go before he can return to contact training.

Martinez sustained an ACL injury in February and recovery time is usually around 9 months. Early October is probably the best case scenario for his return to play in competitive games but we shall see how much progress he makes over the coming weeks.
