Man United eyeing sensational £130m double-deal to bolster attack

Jose Mourinho’s debut season at Manchester United can certainly be deemed as successful but the Portuguese boss will be eyeing better performances in the Premier League next season, following a sixth-placed finish this term.

The Red Devils secured a return to the Champions League courtesy of their success in the Europa League but Mourinho’s men are eyeing bigger things next season, where it’s likely anything less than lifting the Premier League title will be deemed a failure.

Mourinho faces a big challenge this summer as the club are set to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic leave, due to his long-term injury, whilst captain Wayne Rooney could follow- meaning the Red Devils need huge recruits to bolster their side.

After missing out on Antoine Griezmann and seemingly reaching a dead-end in their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku, Manchester United have turned their attentions towards two huge deals on the continent which could cost in excess of £130m.

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly poised to complete a move to Old Trafford after a frustrating return to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer but Manchester United won’t stop there after securing a whopping £60m deal.

The Independant states a deal for Morata won’t even be their most expensive of the summer window as Mourinho is looking to conclude a deal worth around £70m for Torino striker Andrea Belotti, who he believes is the ideal partner for Morata.

Signing two top-class strikers would certainly suggest a change in approach for Jose Mourinho next season as he’d likely need to move away from the formation he used during his debut year at Old Trafford, where Ibrahimovic was utilised as a main man.

With the talents of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and the likes of Jesse Lingard out wide, Manchester United could boast a deadly attack next season but it does raise questions as to what Mourinho’s plans for young pairing Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are.

The pair both seem intent on securing a future for themselves as central strikers but the additions of Morata and Belotti would push them further down the pecking order in this area, likely leaving Martial and Rashford to have to be content with a position out wide.

It’s certainly a concern for fans as Mourinho seems intent on spending vast amounts of money rather than putting faith in the club’s talented youngsters, which is a vast contrast to what the fans have witnessed during the past few decades.
