Man United edge closer to Perisic deal- here’s what he’d add to Mourinho’s side

Manchester United are set to make waves in the transfer market this summer and it seems significant additions will be made to their attacking ranks, as the Red Devils edge closer to a deal for Ivan Perisic and continue to eye a top-class striker.

Inter Milan ace Perisic has been heavily touted with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side this summer and a deal for the 28-year-old Croatian star looks set to go ahead in the coming weeks, as The Sun states Inter are lining-up a deal for Southampton’s Dusan Tadic as a replacement.

Eyebrows have been raised by Manchester United’s pursuit of Perisic as he bolsters an area of Mourinho’s side that is already well-stocked with talent, as the Red Devils currently have the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard to fill the wide roles in their side.

However, Mourinho doesn’t seem too thrilled about Martial’s talents, with the Frenchman having been linked with an exit, and Perisic could come into the side to excel in an attacking midfield combo behind the new striker that Manchester United sign.

Capable of playing centrally or out wide, Perisic would likely slot into the left-side of Manchester United’s ranks and would complete an exciting attacking trio; with Paul Pogba playing centrally and Henrikh Mkhitaryan dominating the right flank.

Perisic’ attacking threat has been shown by his performances for Inter this season, as the Croatian winger has scored eleven goals and provided eight assists in 36 appearances in Serie A- adding another assist during the club’s Europa League campaign.

His versatility would also be extremely useful to Manchester United next season as they balance their involvement across multiple competitions, as Perisic is capable of playing centrally or on the right-hand side, as well as his more natural role in the left.

Whilst he may not be the stand-out superstar that Manchester United fans are dreaming of, Perisic would certainly be a significant upgrade to United’s current options out wide and would hand the club a huge boost in their push towards success.

With the right striker signed to play ahead of Perisic, Pogba and Mkhitaryan, Manchester United could get the best out of their attacking quartet- with Pogba and Mkhitaryan both short of the stellar displays they showed for their former sides during their debut season at Old Trafford.

Perisic would be one piece of Jose Mourinho’s puzzle though and his arrival would set the Red Devils up nicely for the remainder of the summer transfer window.
