Manchester United target Liam Delap wants a salary of around £150,000 a week at his next club, according to reports.
The Chronicle claim that the striker has issued the demand to those interested in signing him this summer.
Delap is reportedly taking home just £20,000 a week at his current team Ipswich Town but he is looking to receive around £7.8m a year if he does leave Portman Road.
The 22-year-old has a release clause in his contract that means he can be signed for £30m, but it remains to be seen if his wages will end up reducing the number of teams interested in buying him.
Man United have competition from 3 other Premier League sides
Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham are all said to be keen on recruiting Delap but The Chronicle say the Magpies may be hesitant to give the player what he wants as he would become one of the club’s highest earners.
Spurs are also not known for paying high salaries so that could potentially play into the hands of both Man United and Chelsea.
Are there any alternatives to Delap?
There has been some speculative sources claiming that the Red Devils are close to snapping up Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres but those rumours are thought to be wide of the mark.
Victor Osimhen’s name continues to be mentioned but there are question marks about a deal going ahead due to the Nigerian international’s salary expectations.
Even Delap’s current wage demands would be significantly below what Osimhen would want to be paid.
In terms of other options, there have been suggestions that Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is a player of interest, although any move for him would likely depend on a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford.
