Danny Murphy expects that Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho will leave Old Trafford this summer.
The 20-year-old hinted after the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday night that he was considering his future. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Man U News (courtesy of talkSPORT BET), Murphy said Garnacho will attract interest from several teams and he would “be surprised” if he remained in Manchester:
“He’s such a talented player, he’s gonna have plenty of suitors, and he’s gonna bring in a lot of money. He’s super talented. Although Mason Mount did brilliantly in the game previously [against Athletic Bilbao] where he scored, it’s probably fair that he [Garnacho] feels disappointed, you know, angry if you like, because he’s played in all the other games and when he came on [against Spurs], he showed what a threat he is, so I understand his frustration.”
“I’m never keen on players venting or sharing that with the public domain, you know, you can do that when you get back and knock on the manager’s door and say your piece, or even in the dressing room on the night you can do what you like behind the camera, but he is definitely someone who many, many teams would like to take, although his season hasn’t been as good as last.”
“You can see the dynamism he plays with and he’s got fire in his belly and he’s a goal threat, so yeah, I’d be surprised to see him in a United shirt [at the] beginning of next season.”
Which team could Garnacho sign for?
The bookmakers have made Chelsea the favourites to secure the Argentinian international’s signature. The Blues made enquiries for the player in January and they remain interested.
United are, however, likely to demand around £60m for Garnacho, and it remains to be seen whether Enzo Maresca’s side or any other club, such as Napoli, are willing to meet the asking price.

In addition to Garnacho, it is believed that the club will sanction the sales of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and even Kobbie Mainoo.
Failure to win the Europa League and secure Champions League qualification means that the club’s £100m transfer budget will have to be supplemented by high-profile departures. It is expected to be a very busy summer at Carrington.
