Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek impressed once again as he was given his second start in a row by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the win against Southampton yesterday afternoon.
The Dutchman was very influential, particularly in the opening stages playing on the left-hand side of the diamond, and looked very comfortable in possession. Supporters on Twitter were praising his display following the game:

He was very good. When players were surrounding him, most of times he managed to give the ball to someone else. In recent years most United players struggled to keep the ball in tight position. Glad to see someone do that. In second half he was fantastic.

Superb performance. And he’ll be super fresh for the tough December schedule. Almost as if OGS planned it… ?

It’s been a very strange start to van de Beek’s career at Old Trafford. He has been underutilised by Solskjaer, for the most part, this season despite shelling out £35m on him in the summer. It got to the stage where the media were questioning why the midfielder had even been signed considering his lack of game time.
However, the Netherlands international has begun to feature more prominently in recent weeks and fans will be hoping he now gets a decent run in the side over the festive period.
