Maguire And McTominay To Start: Manchester United’s Predicted XI To Face Chelsea

Manchester United head into this afternoon’s clash against Chelsea full of confidence after a good pre-season. There has been some unhappiness about the lack of recruits among supporters but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says he is content with his squad heading into the new campaign.

David De Gea will start his ninth season as number one between the sticks, with new £50m signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka almost certain to start at right-back. Harry Maguire only joined up with the squad last week, after his record £80m switch from Leicester, but he is expected to partner Victor Lindelof in the centre of defence.

Luke Shaw is the favourite to start at left-back while Scott McTominay could start alongside Paul Pogba in the middle of the pitch after an excellent preseason.

Solskjaer’s third summer signing Daniel James may be given the nod on the right-hand side, with Jesse Lingard playing in the number 10 role. Anthony Martial will likely be selected on the left wing with Marcus Rashford set to start up top.
