Luke Shaw And Christian Eriksen To Start; Lisandro Martinez And Casemiro On The Bench: United’s Predicted XI To Play Spurs

Manchester United need to secure a win against Tottenham on Sunday to keep their slim hopes of a top 4 finish alive.

Erik ten Hag’s side are 8 points adrift of their opponents, and 9 points off Arsenal in fourth, heading into the game at Old Trafford.

In terms of the starting lineup, Andre Onana is set to play his last game for United before jetting out to join the Cameroon squad for the African Cup of Nations.

After scoring a superb goal in the FA Cup win over Wigan, Diogo Dalot is expected to retain his position in the side, but he may switch flanks to accommodate Luke Shaw, who has recovered from a muscular injury. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be the one to make way.

In the centre of defence, Lisandro Martinez is available again but his lack of match fitness means he will have to settle for a place on the bench. Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans are set to keep their places.

When it comes to the midfield, Casemiro is in a similar situation to Martinez so the Brazilian international is likely to be named as a substitute. Ten Hag may, therefore. start the fit-again Christian Eriksen alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes, with Scott McTominay dropped.

Up front, Antony is back in contention but the Brazilian’s poor form means his return to the starting eleven is not guaranteed. Alejandro Garnacho could be selected on the right wing, with Marcus Rashford on the opposite flank. Despite fluffing his lines against Wigan, Rasmus Hojlund is expected to lead the attack this weekend.

Manchester United’s predicted XI to face Tottenham:

Onana, Dalot, Varane, Evans, Shaw, Eriksen, Fernandes, Mainoo, Garnacho, Hojlund, Rashford
