Lewandowski ‘going nowhere’ insists Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has all but ended Manchester United’s hope of landing striker Robert Lewandowski.

United are one of a host of Europe’s biggest clubs who are interested in landing the Poland international after he reportedly told Bayern of his desire to leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

Lewandowski is understood to favour a move to Real Madrid, however is also open to a move to the Premier League amidst interest from both United and Chelsea as he looks for a new challenge after four successful seasons in Germany.

Despite the 29-year-old’s wish to leave Bayern however, Kovac has insisted he will not be leaving the club before the transfer window closes on August 9th.

“There’s nothing new with Robert, it’s clear that he will not leave this club because we have a top striker and  we certainly do not want to relinquish him or give him away,” he told Sky Sport Germany.

“We want to achieve a lot with him. He is a great footballer, who has achieved a lot in the Bundesliga, scored many goals and now in the new season certainly will score many goals.

“It’s true that Robert toys with going elsewhere. Only [he has] one thing he likes, the other is what we like to do.

“Robert has a contract – I do not know how long – and he will certainly stay as long as possible here.”

Lewandowski joined Bayern in 2014 from rivals Borussia Dortmund, and has since scored 151 times in 195 appearances. to help his side win four consecutive Bundesliga titles.
