Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf can’t see Manchester United finishing in the top four if they continue the poor form they have shown at the start of this season.
The Frenchman believes Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton are the likeliest to finish in the Champions League places at the moment, and out of the other runners and riders, he believes Arsenal and Tottenham are in a better position than the Red Devils:
“With what we have seen, I don’t see Manchester United [finishing in the top-four]. If they don’t react or change things, it’s between Arsenal and Tottenham. Let’s say Tottenham. What I’ve seen from them, I would put them in the top-four.”
Of course, the 6-1 home defeat to Spurs will certainly colour a lot of people’s thinking about United’s top-four chances. Combined with a less than stellar transfer window, it’s not surprising that pundits are pessimistic about their prospects this season.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be expecting a massive improvement from his team when they return after the international break. They play Newcastle in their next league game at St James’ Park in eight days, with fans hoping to see a significantly better performance.
