Laurie Whitwell Reveals The Key Reason Why United ‘Did Not Take Up The Offer’ To Sign Saul Niguez On Loan

Manchester United “did not take up the offer” to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez on loan due to his wage demands, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell.

The Spaniard is currently earning £200,000 a week with the La Liga champions and the Red Devils were not prepared to make him one of the highest earners at the club.

Niguez has been offered out to a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Barcelona and Liverpool, with the 26-year-old said to be keen on leaving the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

However, his salary appears to have priced him out of a move and he is now expected to remain at Atletico, at least until the January transfer window.

Things may still change before the transfer window closes, but Whitwell seems pretty adamant that Niguez will not be arriving at Old Trafford today, despite the club being interested in strengthening in the middle of the park.
