Laurie Whitwell Reveals Surprisingly Low Transfer Budget That Will NOT Change Even If Sheikh Jassim Buys United

Old Trafford

Manchester United will only have £100m to spend on transfers this summer, even if Sheikh Jassim completes a full takeover of the club, according to The Athletic reporter Laurie Whitwell.

The reliable journalist claims that Financial Fair Play regulations mean that manager Erik ten Hag will have a limited transfer budget no matter who the new owner is:

With that being the case, any additional funds will have to come through player sales. There are reports that the club could be prepared to offload up to THIRTEEN members of the first-team squad, with ten Hag considering a sizeable overhaul.

Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Brandon Williams, Donny Van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo have all been tipped for departures, although it’s unlikely that all will be sold.

The likes of Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka, for example, have performed well in recent weeks, while Diallo has looked impressive out on loan at Sunderland, but a lot depends on which players the club get offers for.
