Laurie Whitwell Reveals Shock Candidate Is ‘Under Consideration’ To Replace Solskjaer

Brighton head coach Graham Potter is “under consideration” as a serious contender to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell.

The journalist, who is usually very reliable when it comes to stories related to the Red Devils, claims the Seagulls boss is being looked at, along with a number of other potential candidates.

Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is said to be interested in taking the United hot seat, with Zinedine Zidane and Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino also in the frame.

However, Whitwell believes that if Solskjaer is “given a longer stay of execution” by United’s board, Potter could be considered as a long-term successor.

It would be a shock appointment considering Potter has never managed a top club. Dealing with the egos and personalities of world-class players is not something he is used to and it would, therefore, be very surprising if the Red Devils hired someone who does not have the requisite experience.
