Laurie Whitwell Reveals Agents “Made A Late Attempt” To Persuade United Into Signing 17M Barcelona Star

Agents representing Sergino Dest “made a late attempt” to reunite the American international with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell.

The reliable journalist claims that the fullback was keen on making the switch to Old Trafford before he ended up moving on loan to AC Milan on deadline day.

It is believed that ten Hag had already decided to keep hold of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, even though he was prepared to let the fullback leave for Crystal Palace on a cut-price deal earlier in the summer.

Dest had been linked with both United and Chelsea over the past few months, but he could well join Milan on a permanent basis at the end of his current loan.

The Serie A champions do have the option to buy the 21-year-old for €20m (£17m) if he performs well for the Italian club this season.
