Latest Manchester United Injury Report: Updates On Pogba, Jones And Tuanzebe

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has remained circumspect about Paul Pogba’s chances of starting the season opener against Crystal Palace tomorrow.

The Frenchman has missed a number of training sessions after testing positive for COVID-19 and, at his pre-match press conference today, Solskjaer hinted he will have to select his team based on their fitness levels:

“The players are at different stages. Mentally, I think everyone’s ready. Physically, they’re at a different stage, some of them have played more games than others. So we’ll have to be clever and good about when to play players because we know this period now, until the first international, is a hugely important one.”

Solskjaer also confirmed that there are only two players currently still sidelined with injuries. Axel Tuanzebe has recovered from an ankle injury but he is only currently in light training and it could well be next month before we see the centre-half back in first-team action.

Phil Jones’s estimated return date from a knee injury remains a mystery. The 28-year-old is officially out of contention for the match tomorrow, and there have been some reports over the last couple of weeks that he could be out until at least November. The defender has not played since January.
