Latest Manchester United Injury Report: Updates On Cavani And Jones

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani did not make the squad for the derby despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping the Uruguayan would be back for the game at the weekend.

The 33-year-old has been sidelined with a knock but he had been back outside on the grass working on his fitness so it shouldn’t be long before we see the forward in action once again.

United face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Thursday evening and that should give Cavani enough time to recover. His goals are badly needed after the Red Devils failed to create many clear cut chances against Manchester City on Saturday.

The only other injury absentee is Phil Jones. The centre-back has not featured for the first team this season after undergoing knee surgery back in July.

It was hoped that the defender would return this month but Solskjaer has confirmed it could be sometime after Christmas before we see the 28-year-old back in training.
