Latest Manchester United Injury News

Manchester United are widely expected to make changes in their next game against Burton Albion in the League Cup.

Mourinho has named a fairly unchanged line-up in each of United’s fixtures so far this season, but the clash with the Championship side could see some fringe players getting a run out, and allowing key players to have a rest.

The big rumour coming out of the Old Trafford camp is that Luke Shaw could be set to play a part in the League Cup clash, having been missing from United’s U23 side last night against Chelsea. Shaw has been on the road to recovery for some time now, and his return is eagerly anticipated with the left-back role being identified by many as a weak spot in an otherwise strong Mourinho team.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo remain unavailable until late December 2017 / January 2018, after both suffering with ACL knee injuries. Their returns are also highly awaited, but Jose Mourinho has insisted ACL injuries are not to be rushed, and has called for calm on their return date.

Finally, Paul Pogba suffered a suspected hamstring injury whilst on Champions League duty with United. The Frenchman captained United on the night but hobbled off the pitch after no more than 20 minutes, much to the horror of fans.

It was feared that Pogba could be out for up to 3 months, something Jose Mourinho has been quick to dismiss – however the Portuguese did not confirm the severity of the midfielders injury.

Either way, Pogba is almost certainly unavailable against Burton, and most likely won’t play against Southampton at the weekend.
