Latest Manchester United Injury News: Updates On Pogba, Fred, Varane, Shaw And Cavani

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is expected to be out for a number of weeks with a calf injury he sustained in the opening minutes of the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last night.

After the game, manager Ralf Rangnick said he was pessimistic about the Frenchman returning for the matches coming up against Arsenal and Chelsea.

There is some better news, though, with both Fred (hip) and Raphael Varane (knock) both said to be closing in on returns. Fred has been missing for the last two matches, since being taken off in the defeat to Everton, but Rangnick has suggested that the midfielder could be back available within a week.

Varane, meanwhile, was close to being in contention for the Liverpool match, so there will be some optimism that he will be fit to face Arsenal on Saturday.

Luke Shaw is unlikely to play again this season after surgery to remove bolts from his leg. Edinson Cavani is also struggling with a calf problem which could keep him out for another two to three weeks.
