Latest Manchester United Injury And Fitness News: Updates On Fernandes, Shaw And McTominay

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes reported for training this morning, boosting hopes that he’ll be available to face Atletico Madrid tomorrow night.

The Portuguese international missed the 3-2 win over Tottenham at the weekend after picking up the virus but it appears that he will be in contention for the crucial Champions League round of 16 second leg tie.

Luke Shaw also looks to be in line to make his return against Atletico. The left-back was absent for the Spurs game due to illness, but manager Ralf Rangnick said he was hopeful he’d return to training on Monday, and that has proven to be the case.

There is less certainty over the fitness of Scott McTominay, though. A calf problem means the Scottish international is in a race against time to make the matchday squad tomorrow.

Rangnick believed that resting him for the Tottenham match would increase his chances of facing Atletico but we shall see if he passes a late fitness test.
