La Liga superstar set to snub Barcelona for Old Trafford

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann is set to snub Barcelona for a mega-money move to Old Trafford that could see him earn as much as £400,000 a week.

The France international has been identified as United’s priority signing for this summer, and it was thought a deal of around £89 million for the striker had been lined up.

United, who have long been linked with Griezmann, have recently been thrown a curve ball however by Barcelona – with the Catalan giants recently stating their own interest in the Atletico hitman.

Reports from The Sun suggest that Griezmann will snub a move to Barca, however will now demand an extra £100,000 per week in wages from United before he completes his potential move to Old Trafford.

United have been told that their initial wage offer of £290,000 is not enough, and instead they will have to offer closer to £400,000 in order to secure the Frenchman’s signature.

An Old Trafford source said: “The goalposts have moved significantly since the first attempt to sign Griezmann.

“The package offered last year which was agreed is now a lot less than what he wants next summer.

“It might be too much even for us to afford. The club is desperate to sign him but it is an awful lot of money.

“His people are making different demands which the club might be reluctant to give in to.”

The 26-year-old joined Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 for around £24m, and has since scored 90 goals in 177 appearances for Los Indios.
