Pau Torres’s representatives could travel to the UK “in the next few days” in order to negotiate personal terms with Manchester United, according to Cadena Ser.

The Spanish radio station believe the Villarreal defender may well be on the verge of a move to Old Trafford, with talks over a €50m (£43m) transfer taking place.

Torres has been tracked by a number of other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, but it does appear that United have made the decisive move for the centre-back.

Sources in the UK have yet to confirm whether a deal is close, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reiterated that Torres’s name has been discussed by United internally very recently.

Another defender who has been heavily linked with a switch to the Red Devils is Ajax’s Jurrien Timber, and it remains to be seen whether the Dutchman will be signed in addition to Torres.
